Friends of the Saharawi people are looking for pleading the case for the desert in front of the UN Security Council next Tuesday
The UN Security Council held on Tuesday an open discussion on the
topic of '' cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union
to achieve peace and security: the application of Chapter VIII and the
future of peace and security system Alofriqih''bhoudor a large number of
African countries.The steadfastness of the site and learned from a source familiar with
the many countries of Africa and Latin America expressed a desire to
attend the hearing and the hearing for the Saharawi cause, especially
since the AU's Peace and Security called for inclusion within the main
themes of the annual debate by the Security Council of the African
Union.According
to a source from the UN Security Council open debate intended to help
generate a renewed impetus to strengthen cooperation to achieve peace
and security between the United Nations and the African Union, in
Chapter VIII of the Charter. As
the United Nations itself is currently focusing its efforts on
identifying synergies between the various pillars to the maintenance of
international peace and security efforts, open debate provides a unique
opportunity to explore ways of cooperation between the United Nations
and the African Union from a macro perspective. It will also provide a platform for discussion of the Member States
and other participants to reflect on the following three main areas:(A)
Cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union to achieve
peace and security during the past ten years, in order to assess the
effectiveness of cooperation in the maintenance of international peace
and security in the African continent. In this regard, participants are invited to indicate the main
achievements of this cooperation, as well as serious deficiencies that
undermine its effectiveness, including cooperation with subregional
organizations;(B)
the main recommendations that emerged from the review of the United
Nations peace operations, the structure of peace-building, and Security
Council resolution 1325 (2000), which can be directly related to
activating the renewed partnership strategy between the United Nations
and the African Union, and the links between these recommendations Home to the road map for the African system of peace and security. Participants are invited to propose specific measures to help make the renewed partnership with strategic direction;(C)
the current context and the future of the strategic partnership, which
should be adapted to suit the specific context of each case, with
particular emphasis on mechanisms to improve the following: '1' early
response to early warning (conflict prevention and to seek political
solutions); '2' conflict
management and resolution (mediation and peacekeeping); '3' common
strategies and measures to build peace and preserve it
.
